Figure 3.  Plot similar to that in Figure 1 of log k(rel) for Wacker oxidation of alkenes using palladium chloride versus alkene IP.  There is a natural separation of sterically similar alkenes, indicating an influence by steric requirements.  Within sterically similar groups of alkenes, there is a good correlation between log k(rel) and IP.  The slopes of the lines in this plot are opposite (negative) to those of hydroboration (Fig 1) and of bromination (Fig 2), because this reaction is a nucleophilic addition, while the others are electrophilic additions.
