A wide variety of downloadible chemistry resources can be found at http://www.anachem.umu.se/cgi-bin/pointer.exe?Software).
Molecular Modeling Software
A 3-D molecular model viewer that can be used with both PCs and Macs (using OS 10) is J-Mol. You can download a stand-alone version of Jmol at http://jmol.sourceforge.net/download/.
If you use the stand-alone version of J-Mol there is a collection of molecules prepared for laboratory H-2, but that is also useful for exploring modeling on your own. You can download the compacted version here.
Another 3-D molecular model viewer that has both pc and mac (OS 9 only) versions is the Berkeley version of rasmol (http://mc2.cchem.berkeley.edu/Rasmol/)
If you use rasmol there is a collection of molecules prepared for laboratory H-2 in the "Inquiries into Chemistry" laboratory manual, but that is also useful for exploring modeling on your own. You can download the compacted version for either pc or mac.
If you are using the Spartan molecular viewer there is a collection of molecules prepared for laboratory H-2, but that are also useful for exploring modeling on your own. You can download the compacted version by clicking on either pc or mac.
A utility for unzipping zip files can be found at http://www.winzip.com/downauto.cgi?winzip80.exe).
